Fostoria's Miller rates all-Ohio

Upper Sandusky senior Kaden Holman and Fostoria sophomore Lance Miller each landed on the honorable mention list Tuesday when the Ohio Prep Sportswriters Association released its annual Division IV All-Ohio football team.Holman earned All-Ohio honors for the second year in a row as a quarterback. He was a second-team pick last season.This fall, the senior threw for 2,075 yards and 25 touchdowns while running for 936 yard and 14 more scores.Miller made the list as a defensive back. He is the first Fostoria player named All-Ohio in football since 2009.The sophomore tallied 37 tackles, 12 pass deflections and two interceptions, allowing just 170 total yards to opponents in 10 games. BOYS BASKETBALL GENOA 59 FOSTORIA 45 FOSTORIA – Jon Huston and Aidan Brunkhorst scored 15 points each, and the Comets had four players score in double figures as Genoa toppled Fostoria in the NBC opener for both teams, 59-45. Walter Plantz scored 13 and Ryan Routson 10 for Genoa, which improved to 2-0. The Comets led just 20-18 at halftime, but outscored the Redmen 39-27 over the next two quarters. It was the season opener for Fostroia, which received 16 points from Jayceon Tucker and 13 from Machi Johnson. Jordan Ferguson added eight point and three assists for the Redmen. The Wildcats trailed the Senecas 30-19 at the break, but outscored Calvert 30-16 in the final two periods to improve to 1-3. Mara Simon collected 17 points and eight rebounds to lead Vanlue, while Lexi Brooks recorded 12 points and nine boards to pace the rally. Olivia Secord scored five, while snaring seven steals and six assists. Adrienne Phillips (8 points) dished out six assists. For Calvert (0-2), Alyssa Rishty was terrific, scoring a game-high 26 while grabbing seven rebounds, seven assists and seven steals.
