Miller takes high jump at Fostoria Boosters meet

FOSTORIA – Seneca East swept both the boys and girls titles of the Fostoria Athletic Boosters Invitational on Saturday, with Fostoria third in the boys standings and fourth behind Hopewell-Loudon in the girls meet. Gavin Miller cleared 6-2 to win the high jump. He was Fostoria's lone individual champion in the boys meet, but Traivon Cousin was second in the 800 (2:20.40), Daishaughn Settles second in the 300 hurdles (45.66) and Chaz McBeth-Settles second in the 100 (11.61). McBeth-Settles also anchored the runner-up 400 relay (46.19) that included Miller, Dakota Smith and Ryan O'Neal. In the 110 high hurdles, Liberty-Benton's Cason Doolittle was first (15.38) and Hopewell-Loudon's Evan Kreais second (16.34). Karma Williams led Fostoria's girls team with a first in the discus (118-2) and a second in the shot (31-2 ¾). Lyrique Johnson anchored two second-place relays, the 400 (54.87) with Aliyah Payne, Lexie Coleman and Amirah Johnson, and the 800 (1:56.21) with Timberly Kidwell, Amirah Johnson and Jennafer Johnson. Alayjah Williams was third in the 100 hurdles (17.49). Hopewell-Loudon's Alivia Roerdink won the 400 (1:02.28) and the 800 (2:34.38) and anchored the runner-up 1,600 relay (4:41.47) that included Izabella Frankart, Hannah Schreiner and Hanna Wyman. Frankart was second in the 100 (13.47), and Emma Hintze was runner-up in the 3,200 (13:33.01). Arcadia got second-place finishes from Lillian Wiler in the long jump (14-7½) and Erin McCarty in the discus (106-6). BASEBALL N. BALTIMORE 13 CONTINENTAL 6 CONTINENTAL – Five-run rallies in the first and second innings gained North Baltimore a 10-0 lead and the Tigers rolled to a 13-6 win over Continental on Saturday. Braiden Stolly drove in three runs with a single and a double. Cooper Clark, Wyatt Baltz, Noah Laureano and Adam Smith also had two hits for the Tigers (5-9), and Gavin Soltis added a two-run double. Hannah Oldiges and Kaycie Albers both hammered home runs and combined for five of the nine hits amassed by the Wildcats, ranked No. 2 among Ohio's Division IV programs. Only four of Minster's nine runs were earned off Van Buren pitcher Madison Martin, who struck out six. Belle Miller, Bailey Lance and Megan Stall all had a pair of base hits for Van Buren (9-3).
