Fostoria residents sentenced on drug-related charges

A former convict from Detroit who had come to reside in Fostoria will serve another prison sentence in after being sentenced to a term of 12 to 15 years on four drug-related charges Wednesday in Seneca County Common Pleas Court, the Seneca County Drug Task Force -METRICH Enforcement Unit reported. Judge Michael P. Kelbley immediately sentenced Anthony N. Nix, 38, after Nix pleaded guilty to four counts in a grand-jury indictment stemming from an April 2021 bust at the Buckley Street residence in Jackson Township occupied by Nix and Crystal N.E. Dayton, 34. Nix's sentencing wrapped up a METRICH investigation that resulted in the arrests of Nix and Dayton and the seizure of evidence. "Mr. Nix was not out of prison just seven months, after serving a 16-year sentence, before he came to Fostoria for one thing -- to sell drugs," Det. Brandon Bell of the METRICH Unit said. "Unfortunately for him, he picked the wrong county to do it in. We have shown through our teamwork and stiff sentencing that these drugs and these drug dealers will not be tolerated in Seneca County. "In some instances, it becomes clear that incarceration is the only alternative for some habitual offenders. Today, Mr. Nix was served justice and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of his sentence." Nix was sentenced Wednesday to six years apiece in the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections on first-degree felony charges of complicity of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and complicity to aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), with the terms to be served consecutively. He was also handed sentences of 11 months for possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony, and 11 months for endangering children, a first-degree misdemeanor. Nix will serve a minimum of 12 years, METRICH reported. On Feb. 2, Dayton, whose April 2021 arrest was originally on an active Adult Patrol Authority warrant from a previous drug case, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to first-degree felony charges of complicity of trafficking in a fentanyl-related compound and complicity to aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine). Kelbley sentenced her to seven years on each charge, to be served concurrently, for a mandatory minimum term of seven years and a maximum of 10.5 years. The April 2021 drug-related search warrant served at the Buckley Street residence resulted in the seizure of nearly 40 grams of fentanyl, nearly 35 grams of methamphetamine, a large sum of U.S. currency and criminal tools, METRICH said.
