Fostoria Rail Preservation Society has annual photo contest

For the next month and a half, the Fostoria Rail Preservation Society is holding the "Thru The Lens" photo contest, where local amateur and professional photographers alike can submit photos of the city's historic railways and trains. The photo contest takes place annually, and past entries dating back to 2014 are available to view on the FRPS website. For the 2021 competition, photos must be taken in Fostoria between October 2020 and September 2021. Prizes will be awarded to first, second and third places, ranging from $15 to $50. The entry deadline is September 15, and entries are limited to two photos per person. The photos can be black and white or color, and can be digital photos or digital scans. Physical prints and slides will not be accepted. Files must be no larger than 500kb in size, no larger than 1000 pixels wide, and in landscape orientation. All emails that exceed 2MB in size will be rejected. Additionally, the entrant must be the sole author and owner of copyright of submitted photos. The photos can be digitally altered by the owner — for example, no logos or writing are permitted on photo entries, so those markings can be digitally removed. FRPS also reserves the right to alter submitted photos to meet publishing requirements. Photo entries should be emailed to photocontest@fostoriairontriangle.com with the following details: name, email address, a title for the photo, a brief statement about the photo and the time and place it was taken. Later in September, judges appointed by FRPS will choose the winners. Winning photos may be used on the FRPS website and social media. The photo contest will lead up to the Rail Festival, which takes place on September 25 this year.
