SANDUSKY TWP. — A Bloomdale man who was struck by a vehicle near Terra Community College last week has died of his injuries, the Fremont Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said Sunday in a news release.

Anthony C. Ervin, 18, was a 2019 graduate of Elmwood High School who was attending Terra. He died Saturday at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in Columbus at 12:46 p.m.

Sgt. Kent Jeffries, assistant commander of the Fremont Post, said Ervin last Wednesday was struck by a small, silver pickup truck which was traveling east on Napoleon Road near the Terra campus. He said Ervin’s car had broken down and was either alongside the road or in a ditch, where others had stopped to help him.

Jeffries said Ervin had walked to the back of his car before being hit by the truck, which was driven away from the scene.

OHP’s release said Ervin was flown from the scene to Mercy Health-St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo and was flown to the Columbus hospital on Friday.

Jeffries said the case is under investigation and he could not predict an outcome.

“These can go well or they can go dry,” he said. “It just depends on the leads we get.”

State Patrol asks that anyone with information about the truck should call 419-332-0085 or 419-625-6565.
