911 Calls Released In Ohio VA Hospital Shooting

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Emergency calls from a shooting at a Veterans Affairs hospital in Ohio indicate a relatively calm response to the attack, which wounded one man.

In one call released Friday a VA police officer tells a dispatcher of an “active shooter” situation and requests an ambulance for the victim.

In another call, the father of a doctor said his daughter had been told someone had a gun and she wanted to know that someone has the situation under control.

Authorities say former VA employee Neil Moore pointed a gun at people in a break room at the Dayton hospital and an employee was shot in the ankle in a struggle.

Moore is charged with an assault count and a weapons count.

Moore’s attorney said Friday during a court hearing that his client suffers from mental illness.
