DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities are trying to determine why a man walked across six lanes of Interstate 75 in southwest Ohio before he was hit by a truck.
The Dayton Daily News ( ) reports it happened Sunday afternoon on a busy stretch of I-75 in Dayton.
The man was hospitalized afterward with unspecified injuries. He was alert but had no identification and won’t tell authorities his name or why he was walking across the highway.
Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. John Chesser said the man walked across three lanes of I-75, hopped over the median wall and cross three more lanes before he was hit. Traffic had slowed because of the pedestrian, and the truck was traveling around 35 mph when it hit the man.
Chesser said truck driver won’t be charged.
