Gerald L. “Jerry” Shultz, Sr., 79, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday July 31, 2018 at his home.
He was born November 18, 1938 in Fostoria to the late Richard M. and Blanche M. (Lamberjack) Shultz. He married Charlene E. Solarik October 2, 1965 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, and she survives in Fostoria.
Also surviving are three children, Gerald L. (Deanna) Shultz Jr., Greensboro, NC, Gregory A. (Dolores) Shultz, Ft. Garland, CO and Jenelle L. (Patrick) Shultz-Wrenn, Richmond Hill, GA; four grandchildren, Amber, Tyler, Catherine and Sharley; two great-grandchildren; sister, Eleanor (Melvin) Householder, Findlay; brother, Thomas (Marcie) Shultz, Connecticut; sister-in-laws, Trina, Louise and Joyce Shultz; special family members, Rodney and Bette Reiter; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by grandson, Walter; and brothers, Richard, David and Edward Shultz; and sister, Betty Sendelbach.
Jerry was a 1956 graduate of St.Wendelin High School and a member of the St. Wendelin Parish. He retired from CSX Railroad as a freight agent after 43 years of service. He was a member of the Fostoria Knights of Columbus. Jerry enjoyed walking, biking, and enjoyed watching basketball and football. He had a wonderful sense of humor that would leave you with a smile. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his family.
Visitation is Saturday August 11, 2018 from 2-4 pm at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria. At 4 p.m. Nicholas Shultz will lead and share a time of reflection along with a song from Amanda Sheets.
Burial will be in Weaver Cemetery, Bloom Twp at a later date.
