Ruth Esta Noel, 98, formerly of Fostoria, died Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at Birchaven Village, Findlay.

She was born September 2, 1919 in Fostoria, Ohio, to Frank and Lois (Decker) Mellott. She married Harold Noel June 14, 1940 in Fostoria, OH, and he died October 10, 1986.

Surviving are daughter, Sandra (John) Peters of Fostoria; sons, Larry (Carol Joy) Noel of Barberville, FL, and Thomas Noel, Donald (Sharon) and Daniel (Janice) Noel, all of Arcadia; 14 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Ruth is preceded by her parents; husband; sisters, Gladys Wasson, Hazel Easley, Nella Van Sant and Lucille Babcock; and brothers, Merle, Herbert, Ray and Harold Mellott.

Ruth retired in 1982 from the food service department at Arcadia Schools and was a 1938 graduate of Arcadia Local School.

She was a Life Member of Pleasant View E.U.B. and taught Sunday school there until it’s closing. She then became a member of West Independence UMC. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women’s group “Women Worth.”

Ruth volunteered many hours at the Fostoria Soup Kitchen and was a member of the Bloomdale Trinity UMC missionary sewing group where she sewed many lap robes.

Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the West Independence United Methodist Church in West Independence, Ohio, with Pastor Mark Weatherman officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, July 6, 2018 from 5-8 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, Ohio, and one hour prior to the service (9-10 a.m.) Saturday at the church.

Burial will take place at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, Ohio.

Memorials can be made to the West Independence United Methodist Church, Gideon’s or a charity of the donor’s choice.
