Paul G. Ward, 96 of Fostoria, Ohio, died Saturday, February 3, 2018 at the Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.
He was born September 17, 1921 in Seneca County to Harry and Helen (Fruth) Ward.
Paul is survived by his wife of 75 years, Eloise (Huff) Ward of Fostoria; son, Steve “Sam” (Deb) Ward of Fostoria; daughters, Paula (Larry) Brandenburg of Centerville, Tanya Abbott of McComb, Lana Schlosser of Port Clinton and Sara Ward of Tiffin; sister, Margaret Bourne of Fostoria; 12 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded by his parents; brothers, Robert and Cliff Ward; sisters, Pauline Fruth and Evelyn Ward; and great granddaughter, Sydney Welch.
Paul retired in 1985. He and his wife owned and operated Sterling Dairy on Tiffin Street in Fostoria for more than 29 years. He was 1939 graduate of Fostoria High School and attended B.G.S.U.
Paul was a Captain in the U.S. Army during WWII, a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fostoria, a 70-year member of Fostoria Masonic Lodge #288, where he won many pinochle tournaments, and a member of the Fostoria Elk’s Lodge, Moose, Eagle’s and American Legion.
He was a very active member of the Fostoria YMCA for many years. Paul was an avid card player and loved spending time at Ward’s Woods and with his family.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, Ohio, with the Reverend William Bentley officiating.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 7, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. with a Masonic memorial service to be conducted at 5 p.m. Visitation will also take place on Thursday morning one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Burial will be take place at Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria where Military Honors will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
