Bernice A. Dillon, 84, of Fostoria, Ohio died the morning of Friday, September 15, 2017 at her home. She was born on September 22, 1932 in Tiffin, Ohio to the late Arthur and Edith (Radabaugh) Hushour. Bernice married Doyle G. Dillon on February 27, 1954 in Fostoria, Ohio and he survives. Also surviving is her daughter, Gena (Bill) Daunhauer of Fostoria; sons, Gary (Ronni) Dillon and Galen (Angela) Dillon, both of Fostoria; a sister, Shirley (Don) Coppus of Fostoria; grandchildren, Lesley Rumschlag, Tammy Moffatt, Adam Daunhauer, Amanda Willard, and Jeremy, Meghan, Lance, Warren and Rosalie Dillon; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Charles Hushour; sisters, Dorothy Roby, Evelyn Eyer, and Ruth Dunlap; and a daughter-in-law, Linda Dillon.
Bernice was a homemaker, a graduate of Melmore High School, and a member of the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria, the Fostoria Woman’s Club, Sweet Adeline’s, and Loudon Center Grange. Bernice had a passion for music as she was a long time organist at Grace United Church of Christ, and loved participating in their bell choir. For many years she enjoyed teaching young students to play the piano with a studio of over 30 at a time. She always enjoyed the time spent tending to flowers and plants, was a talented seamstress, and well known for her made-from-scratch pies and cakes. Bernice was the consummate homemaker and mother. Above all else, Bernice loved her family, always looking forward to getting them together, and especially enjoyed the 11 great-grandchildren. For many years, Bernice and Doyle spent their winters in Lakeland, Florida. They also enjoyed 25 summer seasons at Lakeside, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Grace United Church of Christ in Fostoria, with the Reverend Paul Myers, officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home in Fostoria, and Tuesday one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Knollcrest Cemetery in Arcadia, Ohio.
