Donald “Don” Ray Kimble Sr., 77, of West Millgrove, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on Friday, September 8, 2017 at ProMedica Toledo Hospital.
Donald was born the oldest of nine children to the late Harry and Edith (Shine) Kimble on August 1, 1940 in Fostoria, Ohio.
Don had five brothers, Charles (Judy) Kimble, of Lima, Daniel Kimble, David Kimble, the late Richard (Roberta) Kimble, and the late Howard Kimble, all of Fostoria. He also had three sisters, Barbara (Jerry) Radebaugh, of Tiffin, Patricia (Frank) Bacon, of North Carolina and Marilyn (John) Craun, of Fostoria.
Don married Roseann “Rosie” Marie Swartz on February 20, 1959 at the Church of the Nazarene in Fostoria, Ohio and she survives him.
They had eight children, the late Timothy (Jeanne (Kimble) Kreh) Kimble, of McComb, Donald Kimble Jr., of West Millgrove, Tammie (Gary) Morgret, of Findlay, Tina (Rick) Hendricks, of Carey, Terrie (Larry) Litton, of Fostoria, Todd (Kelly) Kimble, of West Millgrove, Johnny Kimble, of Fostoria, and the late Tony Kimble.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Richard Kimble and Howard Kimble; a brother-in-law, John Craun; a sister-in””law, Judy Kimble; two sons, Timothy and Tony Kimble; one grandson, Casey Kimble; one granddaughter Angela Kimble; and one great grandaughter, Mykalee Gallagher.
Don was the proud grandfather to 47 grandchildren and 58 great grandchildren.
In his early years, Don owned/operated several businesses. He enjoyed going to derby’s and races. He later went on to retire from Findlay Whirlpool in 1996 after 19 years of employment.
Don enjoyed being a carrier for the Toledo Blade, the Bowling Green Sentinel and the Fostoria Review Times.
In his free time he frequented all his favorite coffee shops and restaurants and making new friends whenever he went.
Don was a wonderful husband, father, son, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend and was always just a phone call away if anyone needed him.
He loved his family and could often be found playing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren who referred to him lovingly as “Grandpa Turkey”. He was very loved and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, September 14, 2017 at MANN-HARE-HOENING Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Donald Goodwin presiding. Burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
