Harold L. Kagy, age 83, of Bloomdale, Ohio, and formerly of Helena, Ohio, passed away on Saturday (September 9, 2017) at Wood Haven Health Care in Bowling Green, Ohio. He was born on January 17, 1934 in Bowling Green, Ohio to the late Donald and Bernita (Singleton) Kagy. He married Marybelle Manhart on June 28, 1959 in Nevada, Ohio, and she passed away on November 16, 1999. He married Peggy (Knepper) Benschoter on February 23, 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Surviving is his wife, Peggy; sons, Ray Kagy of Helena, Ohio, and William (Penny) Kagy of Bradner, Ohio; step-sons, Mike Benschoter, Bloomdale, Ohio, and Steve (Tami) Benschoter of Bloomdale, Ohio; step-daughter, Carla (Dennis) Rinearson of Bloomdale, Ohio; sister, Mary (Travis) Teft of Marion, Ohio; grandchildren, Ali, Andy, and Josh; and step-grandchildren, Jared, Amanda, Hayley, Marissa, Miranda, Makenna and Kiya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Bernita; wife, Marybelle; and a sister, Donna Huff.
Harold was a 1952 Graduate of Bowling Green High School. He worked for the Brough Stone Quarry and MacRitchie Stone Quarry in West Millgrove, Ohio as a heavy equipment operator. Harold was also a lifetime farmer. He attended Mt. Zion United Brethren Church. He was also a member of the Sandusky County Farm Bureau, Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner, Ohio, and a former member of the Fostoria Moose. He enjoyed square dancing and listening to blue grass music.
Friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday (September 12, 2017) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio, where a Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (September 13, 2017), with Pastor Mark Ralph officiating. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery in Sandusky County, Scott Township, with Military Honors provided by the Albert Bowe American Legion.
