Nellie C. (Vogelsong) Shuff, 89, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, in Arcadia, Florida, after a brief illness.
She was born Jan. 11, 1928, in Tiffin, and soon became an orphan. But that never influenced or defined her amazing life. She married Richard “Dick” Shuff June 15, 1947, after his return from serving in World War II in the U.S. Army Air Corp., and, he preceded her in death May 31, 1997.
She is survived by her four children, Cathy Bennett, Susan (Larry) Herbert, Steve (Alicia) Shuff and Theresa Durst; nine grandchildren, Monica Rodenberg, James Bennett, Shawn Hoover, Amber Herbert, Lisa Hayes, Aaron Herbert, Sarah Shuff, Nick Shuff and Olivia DelTurco; 23 great-grandchildren; and many, many wonderful friends.
After her parents’ death, she lived with family and friends in and around Tiffin. She graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1946.
Nellie worked part time at the family business of Paul & Dick’s Supermarket, and loved to cook fantastic meals for many people. Raising and loving her family was her primary purpose in life. Later, she became a real estate broker, a profession she absolutely loved.
For the past 17 years, Nellie lived at Brookside Bluff in Zolfo Springs, Florida, a retirement community filled with many loving and caring friends.
The Shuff family thanks everyone for their kind words, gentle thoughts and heartfelt prayers.
A celebration of life for Nellie will take place at a later date in Ohio and in Florida.
