Jane Elizabeth Munger, 96, formerly of Fostoria, passed away at 3:18 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Elizabeth Scott Community in Maumee, OH, where she resided for the last 2½ years.
Jane was born in Altoona, PA, on June 5, 1921 to Hugh and Mary Ann Reilly.
Jane retired from the former Ahlenius Company and J. Miller & Company, Fostoria, where she was a bookkeeper and sales associate. During WWII she was employed as a secretary at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. This is where she met her husband, Donald, who was serving in the military.
Jane was a member of St. Wendelin Church and its Rosary-Altar Society for more than 60 years. She volunteered at the gift shop for Fostoria City Hospital and played cards every chance she got at the Fostoria Senior Center where she made many friends.
Jane lived a very long and happy life. Although suffering from dementia, she seemed happy right to the end. The light of her life were her grandsons, whom she loved dearly and really enjoyed watching them grow. She will be missed by her family.
Surviving is her daughter, Nancy Malone of Toledo; grandsons, Ryan P. (Amy) Malone, Medina and Scott A. (David) Malone of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Ann Reilly of Altoona, PA; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; son, Stephen; and brothers, Paul and Hugh Reilly.
Visitation is from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 at HOENING & SON FUNERAL HOME 133 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Wendelin Catholic Church with Rev. Todd Dominique presiding. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Fostoria Senior Center, Alzheimer’s Association of NW Ohio and Hospice of NW Ohio c/o the funeral home.
