Marie M. Burkett Ropp, 95 of Fostoria, passed away on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
She was born on September 4, 1921 in Alexandria Bay, NY, to the late Rennie and Sophia (Graves) Frizzell. Her foster parents were the late Halstead and Mary McElroy, with whom she traveled to Ohio at the age of 14.
She married her first husband, Harold R. Burkett, on June 24, 1944 and he preceded her in death on March 27, 1967. She then married Judson “Bob” Ropp on May 9, 1984 and he preceded her in death on August 21, 2010.
Surviving is her daughter, Helen (Lynn) House of Fostoria; granddaughter, Tamara (Jeff) Hammond of Caledonia, MI; great-grandchildren, Carter and Landry Hammond of Caledonia, MI; step-children, Mike (Claire) Ropp of Wilmington, OH, Nancy Price of Charlotte, NC, and Sally Ropp of Charlotte, NC; step-grandchildren, Brad (Leslie) Ropp of Sunbury, OH, and Russell (Dee) Price of Charlotte, NC; four step-great-grandchildren, Lauren and Morgan Ropp of Sunbury, OH, and Madi and Meri Price of Charlotte, NC; and a sister, Evelyn Peacock of Arkansas.
Marie was a 1941 Arcadia High School graduate and was employed with Autolite for 35 years, retiring in 1976. She was a member of The First Presbyterian Church, Fostoria, where she was a Deacon. She enjoyed aerobics, cake decorating, playing cards and board games, word finds, bowling and traveling. She also loved to clean, especially washing windows.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Funeral services will begin 1 p.m. in the funeral home the same day, Rev. Robert E. Butcher presiding.
Burial will follow in Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
