Robert M. Mauger

Robert M. “Bob” Mauger, Jr., 82 passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 5 p.m. in Wood County Hospital, Bowling Green. Bob was born on May 22, 1932 in Columbus to the late Robert M. and Verna P. (Vessels) Mauger. He married Helen Fisher on July 14, 1951, and she survives.
He is also survived by children, Robert M. Mauger III, of Findlay, Laura Mauger, of Nags Head, N.C., and Kristen Mauger-Allison (Bob), of Corona Del Mar, CA.; a sister, Carol Ann Massara, of Columbus; step-brother: Richard Hugoniot, of WA.; five grandchildren, Erin Mauger, Amy Mauger-Brooks, Corey Mauger, Zane McKnight and Taylor Shumate; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his step-mother, Frances Mauger, and step-brother, Eugene Hugoniot.
Robert was a 1950 graduate of Linden McKinley High School in Columbus. He served in the US Marine Corp. during the Korean War. He was a former owner and president of Mauger Exterminating Company in Findlay and was a former owner of Riverside Marina in Port Clinton for over 30 years. Robert was a member of the Royal Arch Masons for 60 years, Capital City Masonic Lodge in Columbus, Findlay Shrine Club, Ralph D. Cole Post #3 American Legion, Republican Central Committee and the Fostoria Power Squadron.
He was also a life member of the Findlay Elks Club #75. Bob was a proud Marine, a self-made successful man, a pilot, a boat captain, a Marina owner and a loyal husband of 63 years. Bob was straight-forward, honest, humorous and a great family man.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 18, 2014 at COLDREN-CRATES FUNERAL HOME, Findlay. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 19, 2014. The Rev. Cynthia Holder Rich will officiate and full-military rites will be performed by the Hancock County Veteran’s Memorial Squad.
