Charles L. Dodge

Charles L. Dodge, 62, of Fostoria, passed away Sunday morning, June 29, 2014 at his home. He was born on June 14, 1952 in Boston, MA. to Charles T. and Marie (Buonopane) Dodge. He first married Marjorie Haubert in May of 1973 and they divorced. He then married Deborah Johnson in January 1997, and she survives.
Also surviving are his mother, Maria Bachelder, of East Weymouth, MA.; daughter, Laura (Matthew) Hossler, of Waterville; sons, Kevin (Jami) Dodge, of Fostoria and Matthew Dodge, of Shepard AFB Wichita Falls, TX; step-daughter, Kerri Johnson, of Findlay; step-sons, Brian Johnson, of Van Buren and Nate Johnson, of Fostoria; sisters, Linda (Steve) Perona, of Norwell, MA. and Rayleen Garrow, of Rutland, VT; brothers, William Dodge, of East Weymouth and Kevin (Colleen) Bachelder, of Halifax, MA; and grandchildren, Zachary Hossler, Megan Dodge, and Trey and Rylee Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Robert Dodge.
Charlie retired in 2012 as a “projects coordinator” for Peterman & Associates in Findlay. Prior to that, he work for the City of Fostoria for over 25 years as labor superintendent of utilities and administrative assistant to the mayor.
He was a graduate of Dorchester High School and attended Terra Technical College in Fremont. He was a clerk in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and a medic in the Ohio National Guard.
Additionally, he was a past president of the Seneca County Health District, board member of the Fostoria Red Cross and committee member of the Ohio Public Works District 16 and the Portage River Basin Counsel.
Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 3, 2014 at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home with the Rev. Donald Goodwin officiating. Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Fountain Cemetery in Fostoria, where military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
