Wayne M. Collins

Wayne Martin Collins, 71, of Risingsun, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Bowling Green surrounded by his loving family. He was born on May 12, 1943 in Wood County to the late Charles and Mamie (Eschendor) Collins. He married Barbara Lee Heberling on June 16, 1965 in Adrian, Michigan.
Surviving is his loving wife of 48 years, Barb; sons, Mark (Teri) Collins, of Risingsun, Stuart (Tami) Collins, of Pemberville, Danny (Ellen) Collins, of Gibsonburg; sisters, Mary Marguart, of Findlay, Lenora Perkins, of Clyde, Betty Palmerton, of Risingsun; goddaughter, Brenna Garlick; six grandsons; one granddaughter; one God granddaughter; and, one step-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Edward Collins.
Wayne retired in 2010 after working 46 years for Reed Manufacturing in Bradner. He was a 1961 graduate of Risingsun High School and served his country proudly in the Navy during the Vietnam War and currently has a grandson, Gage, serving aboard the U.S.S. Truman.
He was a member of the Albert Bowe American Legion Post #338 in Bradner; Fostoria Moose; he was a little league coach and Cub Scout master. He enjoyed his favorite team, the Green Bay Packers, traveling, gardening, time with his dog Prince, and spending much of his free time in the outdoors.
Friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, where a Celebration of Life Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, 2014 with Pastor Ray Drown officiating. Burial will be in Fish Cemetery near New Rochester with military honors performed by the Albert Bowe American Legion. A bereavement luncheon will immediately follow back at the Albert Bowe American Legion Hall in Bradner.
