Evelyn Rose Kuhn, 89, of Findlay, formerly of Fostoria, died Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. She was born September 15, 1924 in Chicago to Stuart B. and Evelyn A. (Herman) Gair. She married Edwin Kuhn on August 31, 1947 in Fostoria.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Edwin Kuhn, of Fostoria; children, Lesley S. (Hugh) Nixon, of Peru, Ind., Steven G. (Carol) Kuhn, of Sacramento, Calif., Kristin L. (John) McDonnell, of Morrison, Colo.; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sister, Suzanne Goetsch, of Hilton Head, S.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Stuart B. Gair, Jr.
Evelyn was a 1942 graduate of Fostoria High School and later graduated in 1946 with her Bachelors of Arts in English from Denison University. While at Denison University, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.
Evelyn Rose was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Findlay, various Garden Clubs, and the Mazza Museum. Evelyn Rose through her lifetime was a substitute teacher, a buyer for Gair’s Department Store, and most proudly, a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed gardening, painting, traveling, reading, cooking, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. Saturday, May 17, 2014 at MANN-HARE-HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, with the memorial service beginning at 2 p.m. The Rev. David Aber will officiate the service. The burial will be private.
