Rowena I. Welly, 89 of Fostoria, Ohio, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria. She was born September 10, 1924 in Clyde, Ohio to Albert and Florence (Leckler) Davis. She married Florian D. Welly September 6, 1947 in Fostoria, Ohio and he died June 26, 1992.
Surviving are a son, Gary (Bobbie) Welly of Fostoria; daughters, Patricia (Gerald) Gillig of McCutchenville, Lana Trimble of Fostoria, and Donna (Eric) Smith of Battlecreek, MI; grandchildren, Brad, Steven and Brian Welly, Krista Kenner, Devon, Trevor and Travis Gillig, Rhiannon Milde, Skylar Meyers, Damian and Joel Smith, and Jaime Krick; and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Orlo and Robert Davis; and sisters, Thelma Filliater, Helen Jarrard, Dorothy Cutlip, Ethel Gardner, Pearl Kraylek, and Betty Elchert.
A 1942 graduate of Clyde High School, Rowena was a homemaker and a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church. She enjoyed bird watching and old TV shows. She loved being with her family, and was a crossword wizard.
Services will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, Ohio with Father Nicholas Weibl officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to services at the funeral home; 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Burial will be at Knollcrest Gardens, Arcadia, Ohio.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
