George Clayton Davis passed away Friday, March 8, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria. He was the son of E.A. and Iva Davis, born on March 25, 1930 near Elizabeth, West Virginia. He grew up in Spencer West Virginia, Bucyrus and Fostoria, Ohio. He graduated from Fostoria High School in 1948.
George met Wilma Hale and they were married on August 25, 1958. To this union was born a son, William Hale Davis. He became a grandfather to one granddaughter, Hannah Marie.
George loved bowling and doing crossword puzzles. He also liked listening to country music, sang in a Southern Gospel quartet and was well known for his deep bass singing voice.
George was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He made a career of cross country trucking and had driven 2 million miles without an accident. After retirement, he went on to drive for S.C.A.T. for several years.
He moved in with his sister Jean Edinger. When his health declined he moved into Good Shepherd where he made many new friends.
Preceding George in death was his parents; wife. Wilma; sister, Linda Lou; and brother-in-law, Delbert Edinger.
Surviving are his sisters, Joanne (George) Mozader and Jean Edinger; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014 at 1 p.m. at the Fostoria Baptist Church on Lytle St., with Pastor Dan Hicks officiating.
George wished to donate his body to science. Arrangements were handled by Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria.
