Bertha L. Brooks, 90, of Fostoria, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 at Good Shepherd Home in Fostoria.
She was born December 29, 1923 in Fostoria to the late William L. and Mamie Mae (Brenner) Danniels.
She married Clarence Bauman March 25, 1939 and he preceded her in death November 6, 1967. She then married Henry W. “Hank” Brooks on April 12, 1969, as he too preceded her in death on October 21, 1989.
Left to cherish Bertha’s memory are her daughters, Norma (the late Kenneth) Drake of Fostoria and Bonnie Wright of Findlay; two step-sons, Michael H. (Missy) Brooks of Florida and Richard W. (Jeri) Brooks of Catawba Is.; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Inez Haynes, Vera Gaertner, and Mamie Groves; and two brothers, John and Harold “Doc” Danniels.
Bertha was a happy, loving, and lovable lady, kind and considerate of others. She always had a song in her heart, and loved to sing for others.
She was a member of Fostoria Baptist Church in Fostoria, and was an avid Bible reader. She was an Inspector for Ex-Cell-O for 15 years, retiring in 1969, and enjoyed doing a lot of volunteer work, as well as playing cards.
Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at MANN-HARE-HOENING FUNERAL HOME, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria. Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. on Friday in the funeral home, with Pastor Dan Hicks, presiding. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia.
