Marguerite F. Nye

Marguerite Nye, 94, passed away peacefully on Friday surrounded by her family in the supportive care of Hospice of Dayton Friday, February 21, 2014. She was beautiful and sharp as a tack until the end.
Marguerite was born Marguerite Florence Falewage on March 10, 1919 in Fostoria, Ohio. She was the daughter of Bernard and Anna Falewage, the sister of George (a casualty of WWII), and the widow of J. Justin Nye (President, Nye Inc.).
Marguerite spent an idyllic childhood in Fostoria surrounded by a loving family. A lifelong member of St. Wendelin Parish, she graduated from St. Wendelin High School in 1937. With a head for figures she embarked upon more schooling at Tiffin Business University and worked as a bookkeeper at Seneca Wire.
University and the wire mill couldn’t hold a candle to the charm of Justin Nye, her husband of fifty plus years. Newly married, Marguerite traveled with Justin through his early military service eventually settling down just blocks from her childhood home to raise the family she adored.
Marguerite will be missed by her three children, Gretchen of Cincinnati, Georgiana (Lynn Seery) of Dayton and Doug of Maine. She was a devoted and engaged grandmother to, Stephanie (Jeffrey Galinson) of San Francisco, Jamie (Shanna) of Miami, Matthew of Denver, Jesse (Tara) of Cincinnati, Justin (Leslie) of New York City, Sterling (Juliet) of Chicago, Bernie (Katie) of Maine and Lyndsay of Washington D.C.; and great-grandchildren, Devan, Georgie, Nolan, Lena, Ian, Jonah, Zoe, Charlie, Violet and Linda.
Marguerite will be remembered in many ways. A ninety four year resident of Fostoria, she made her home ground zero for her family, where one could always find a listening ear, an available bed and a full fridge, including “ham” salad. She loved following the stock market, current events and the lives of her family, and she never met a lottery ticket or a bowl of ice cream she didn’t like.
Mass of Christian Burial for Marguerite will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Wendelin Catholic Church, 323 N. Wood St., Fostoria, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at Hoening Funeral Home, 242 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Burial will follow in St. Wendelin Cemetery.
Donations in Marguerite’s honor may be made to the Seneca County Commission on Aging’s Meals on Wheels Program, The Hospice of Dayton or St. Wendelin High School.
