Karen Sue Tufts, 71 of Fostoria, passed away Wednesday evening, February 19, 2014 at Bridge Hospice Center, Findlay, Ohio. She was born November 14, 1942 in Rawson, Ohio to Gorby and Jayne (Hauenstein) Ewing. She married Donald R. Tufts on January 18, 1963 in Findlay, Ohio.
Surviving are her husband, Donald Tufts of Fostoria; son, Kevin (Renee’) Tufts of Swanton; daughter, Dr. Cyndi (Brian) White of Columbus; brother, Don (Donna) Ewing of Findlay; and grandchildren, Brittany and Jacob White, and Tille Jane and Benjamin Tufts.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A 1960 graduate of Findlay High School, Karen also graduated from Carnegie Technical School and earned an associates degree from Owen Community College.
She retired from Fostoria Community Hospital as a Medical Technologist after working in the medical field for the past 50 years. She was a member of the Arcadia United Methodist Church.
A former Girl Scout Leader, Karen served on the Missions and Worship Teams at her church. She also was an adult Bible Studies leader.
She was instrumental in the start of the Community Dinner, Backpack and Clothing Outreach program at area churches, as well as the Feed Our Kids program in Arcadia.
Memorial services will be held at Arcadia United Methodist Church at a later date.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Feed My Kids Program or Bridge Hospice.
