Esther J. Self, 96, formerly of Findlay and Fostoria, passed away at 2:20 p.m. on Monday, December 30, 2013 at the Independence House in Fostoria. Esther was born on May 7, 1917 in Dennison, Ohio to the late James C. and Lillie (Roby) Lambert. On March 23, 1936 she married Karl R. Self and he preceded her in death on March 7, 1982.
Esther is survived by her two sons: Daniel R. (Linda Gena) of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. and Timothy K. (Mary Ann) of rural Findlay. Her siblings are Chester W. (Sybil) Lambert of Orlando, Fla. and Lillie Naomi (Tom) Mills of Pamdale, Calif. Esther’s grandchildren are Steven Charles Self, Tina Marie (Joseph) Hudson and her great grandchildren are Matthew K., Christopher and Daniel Karl Hudson. Esther was preceded in death by her siblings: Robert W. Lambert, Ruth Edwards and Glena Jahn.
Esther was a 1935 graduate of North High School, Columbus. Esther was a member of the First Church of Christian Scientist, Findlay; where she was the former first and second reader and librarian. She was also a member of the Antique Club of Fostoria, Fostoria Women’s Club, Flying Quail Antique Car Club, Ladies Shrine Club, Fostoria, and Eastern Star of Fostoria and Findlay. Esther enjoyed crocheting, gardening and playing Bridge.
