Area golf: Van Buren’s Ohlrich finishes 2nd at St. Francis Invitational

TOLEDO — Connor Ohlrich placed second individually in leading Van Buren to a fifth-place finish in the 19-team field at Saturday’s St. Francis Knight Invitational at Heatherdowns Golf Club.

Ohlrich’s 75 paced the Black Knights, A.J. Overmyer carded an 83, while Quentin Weddell and Noah Frederick both shot an 84. Grayson Temple (89) and Travis Neumeister (98) also played for Van Buren.

Lexington captured the team title with a 309-317 margin over Sylvania Northview.

Oregon Clay’s Palmer Yenrick was the tournament medalist with a 68.

Van Buren is back in action today for the Gahanna Columbus Academy Invitational at the Columbus Country Club.

VB girls place 10th

TOLEDO — Van Buren’s girls golf team placed 10th in the Toledo Notre Dame Eagle Invitational’s 12-team field at Detwiler Golf Course on Saturday.

The Black Knights carded a 418 to edge out Montpelier (431) and Findlay (444).

New Albany won the event with 293 strokes, 32 strokes higher than runner-up Lima Central Catholic (325).
