Prep volleyball: Fostoria’s Settles is killin’ it

ROSSFORD — Tyriana Settles’ school record for kills in a single match was short lived.
Settles, who set the school record with 40 kills in a four-set win over Lake on Sept. 7, broke her own mark with 47 kills Tuesday in a 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 25-13 Northern Buckeye Conference win at Rossford. She also added eight digs and five aces in the win for Fostoria (9-3, 4-1 NBC).
Dakota Thomas handed out 49 assists, Mary Harris had 17 digs, and Zoe Rice and Baleigh Robinson added 10 digs apiece for Fostoria.
Rossford dropped to 3-4 and 2-1 in the NBC.

PEMBERVILLE — Peighton Troike led Elmwood with nine kills Tuesday and Jill Hannah added eight digs as the Royals fell to undefeated Eastwood 25-12, 25-11, 25-10 in a Northern Buckeye Conference match.
Lizzy Hall had eight assists and six digs for Elmwood (1-8, 0-4 NBC).
Eastwood improved to 8-0, 4-0 NBC.

OLD FORT — Sydney Kin tallied team-highs of 17 kills and four aces to lead state-ranked Carey to a 25-18, 25-19, 25-13 win over Old Fort on Tuesday night in nonconference volleyball action.
Lawyer Stansberry hoisted 28 assists on 96 for 96 setting and Dana Worst made 15 digs as the Blue Devils, ranked 20th in the season’s first state volleyball coaches association poll, improved to 9-1.
Kiely Taylor and Morgan Miller notched six kills apiece for the Stockaders (2-7), with Taylor adding two blocks. Maddi Guth collected 20 assists and a pair of aces and Jenna Clouse made 15 digs.

FHS tennis wins
Fostoria High School won every match in straight sets to defeat Rossford 5-0 in girls tennis on Tuesday at the FHS courts.
Kyhra Baeder beat Anna Price 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while Naija Miller blanked Tabitha Price 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 and Abrianna Swartz topped 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3.
The Lady Red’s No. 1 doubles team of Larai Williams and Mya Weimerskirch defeated Leah Espen and Erin Waterford 6-2, 6-4. Rubi Dessausure and Tonique Jones downed Amber Strezespen and Casey Reno 6-3, 6-0.
