Pandora-Gilboa junior Drew Johnson led area athletes by earning third-team honors as The Associated Press released its Division IV All-Ohio boys basketball selections on Monday.
Johnson, a 6-foot-5 forward, averaged 19.3 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game in leading the Rockets to the outright Putnam County League title. The PCL player of the year and first-team all-Blanchard Valley Conference selection helped the Rockets finish 16-6 in the regular season.
Old Fort senior Hootie Cleveland earned special mention honors after he led the Stockaders to a 20-4 record and a sectional title. The 6-2 guard notched 16.2 points, 2.9 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
A pair of Putnam County seniors earned all-Ohio honors as Leipsic’s Grant Schroeder and Continental’s Wade Stauffer were named honorable mention. Schroeder averaged 17.1 points per game while Stauffer, who along with Johnson and Cleveland surpassed the 1,000-point milestone this season, chipped in 16.2 points per game.
