Prep Roundup: Elmwood races past Arcadia

BLOOMDALE — Tayte Lentz scored 28 points and added five assists and four steals Friday as Elmwood blitzed Arcadia 82-36 in a nonleague boys basketball game.
Nate Uzelac had 13 points and six rebounds for Elmwood (7-2). Jonathan Duvall had 12 points and four steals.
Alex Pessell led Arcadia (0-6) with 11 points. Levi Squire scored eight points.

VAN BUREN — Van Buren increased its lead by one point each quarter and held on to edge Otsego 52-48 in a nonleague boys basketball game Friday.
Braxton Fasone led the Black Knights (6-0) with 17 points and seven rebounds, while Matthew Ayers (14 points) and Ryan Turner (10 points, five assists) also scored in double figures. Van Buren led 8-7 after the first quarter, 19-17 at halftime and 30-27 after three quarters.
Will Varner’s 16 points led Otsego (4-4).

Pichardo leads Redmen
DEFIANCE — Oscar Pichardo was one match short of placing as he led Fostoria High School’s wrestlers at Friday’s Tri-State Border Wars Classic at Defiance.
Pichardo was the only Fostoria wrestler to win a match at the 27-team tournament. He is now 12-10 after splitting his four bouts.
He dropped an 11-4 decision to Tecumseh, Michigan’s Kyle Yuhas in his 145-pound opener before scoring wins over Bowling Green’s Gavin Mintey (11-4) and Jackson, Michigan Lumen Christi’s Patrick Lucas (5-2).
He was eliminated from the tournament with a 7-3 loss to Elida’s Calvin Brown.
