State-ranked New Riegel spikers bounce Riverdale in straight sets

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Kara Scherger collected 12 kills, nine aces and 15 digs to lead state-ranked New Riegel to a 25-12, 25-16, 25-18 win over Riverdale Monday night in a nonconference match.
Taylor Arbogast stashed a team-high 23 kills as the Blue Jackets, who are ranked 13th in the state in Division IV, upped their record to 15-2.
Brianna Gillig recorded five kills and nine digs, Leah Bouillon notched four aces and nine digs and Haley Hoepf had six assists for New Riegel.
The Falcons fell to 9-9.
New Riegel won the junior varsity match 25-4, 25-4.
RAWSON — Molly Glick rang up 21 kills and five blocks and Haley Kieffer registered 37 assist Monday night as Arcadia topped Cory-Rawson 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 25-20 in Blanchard Valley Conference play.
Abbie Dauterman notched 13 kills and 13 digs for the Redskins (13-5 overall, 5-4 BVC), while Brooke Love made 24 digs, Hailey Ginnever recorded eight kills and eight digs and Lizzie Coward put away five kills.
The Hornets dropped to 11-6 overall and 5-3 in the conference.
Arcadia won the junior varsity match 25-14, 25-17 behind Brittney Nye’s nine points.
BASCOM — Van Buren overcame a 23-17 deficit in the third set Monday night and went on to drop Hopewell-Loudon 24-26, 25-19, 27-25, 25-19 in a Blanchard Valley Conference match.
Statistics for Van Buren were not available at press time.
Jacque Burns recorded 12 kills, 22 assists on 97-for-97 setting and 22 assists for the Chieftains (4-15 overall, 3-7 BVC), while Brooklyn Arbogast collected 13 kills, three aces, six digs and three block assists and Kenadee Siebenaller had four kills, three aces, six digs and three solo blocks.
Also for Hopewell-Loudon, Jessie Kreias put down seven kills and made seven digs, Alex Endicott came up with 27 digs, Baleigh Searles registered 18 digs and Astacia Richardson had 14 digs and two aces.
Hopewell-Loudon won the junior varsity match 28-26, 25-16.

ARLINGTON — Britnee Johnson tallied nine kills and five digs, while Lindsay Werst added five kills, seven digs and five aces as state-ranked Arlington rolled past Vanlue 25-9, 25-16, 25-14 Monday night in Blanchard Valley Conference action.
The Red Devils, who are ranked seventh in the state in Division IV, improved to 16-2 overall and 7-2 in the BVC. The Wildcats dropped to 1-12 and 0-9.
Statistics for Vanlue were not available at press time.
Arlington won the junior varsity match 25-7, 25-3.
Boys soccer
BLUFFTON — Four different Bluffton players scored Monday in a 4-1 win over Van Buren in nonconference play.
Tucker Routson, Douglas Nester, Adam Basinger and Alex Horde each scored for the Pirates (6-6-2), with Cole Harlow adding an assist.
Jon Bach tallied the lone goal for the Black Knights.
Joseph Schriner made three saves for Bluffton, while Nathan Maynard recorded four stops on eight shots faced for Van Buren (6-4-3).
