BLOOMDALE — Jasmine Marsh tallied 18 kills and 10 digs for Elmwood in a 25-16, 16-25, 25-19, 25-22 win over Eastwood Thursday night in Northern Buckeye Conference play.
Ashley Veryser added 14 kills and four blocks for the Royals (4-1 overall, 2-0 NBC), while Jenna Wilson recorded 34 assists and Jaela Kynard had eight kills and six digs.
Sarah Williams had 13 digs, Katie Peters notched six kills and Katy Henderson finished with six digs for Elmwood.
Elmwood won the junior varsity match 25-18, 18-25, 25-10.
ST. WENDELIN OUTLASTS
OLD FORT IN FIVE
OLD FORT — St. Wendelin evened its record at 2-2 overall Thursday night as it opened Sandusky River League play with a 26-24, 13-25, 19-25, 25-22, 16-14 victory over Old Fort in a Sandusky River League opener.
Individual statistics for the Mohawks were not received by press time.
Samantha Hartsel smacked 12 kills for the Stockaders (1-3 overall), while Sara Bell added nine kills and three digs, Allison Adelsperger had 36 assists and eight digs and Shelby Bilger made 27 digs.
Old Fort won the junior varsity match 25-23, 25-8. Hali Kimmet totaled six aces and five kills for the Stockaders, and Whitney Bilger had four aces and three kills.
Old Fort won the freshman match 25-15, 25-17 as Sydney Hossler had four kills and three digs and Sara Hossler added three kills.
WHIPS ST. MARY
NEW RIEGEL — Kara Scherger racked up 14 kills and four aces for New Riegel in a 25-12, 25-10, 25-20 win over St. Sandusky St. Mary Thursday night in a Sandusky River League opener.
Taylor Arbogast hammered 12 kills for the Blue Jackets (4-1 overall, 1-0 SRL), while Lindsay Bouillon added 19 assists and Brianna Gillig recorded four kills, four aces and 13 digs.
New Riegel won the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-27, 25-19.
Tiffany Hemminger and Shelby Mathias had eight kills apiece for New Riegel, while Haley Hoepf and Liz Zoeller both finished with seven kills. Kylie Tiell added 24 assists and Emily Hohman had 14 digs. New Riegel won the freshman match 15-25, 25-15, 25-11. Lauren Theis tallied 10 assists and seven aces for the Blue Jackets, while Tiffany Hemminger had seven kills and Emily Peters added six kills and six aces.
Justice Lentz led Fostoria High School with 14 digs and six kills but the Lady Red fell 25-12, 25-10, 25-14 to Lake Thursday night in Northern Buckeye Conference play. Asia Settles added a team-high 10 digs and two points and Lexie Fretz totaled six kills, three blocks and two digs for the Lady Red (1-3, 0-2 NBC),
Luchauna Smith tallied five points, three blocks and two digs and Maddie Gillig recorded five digs and three points for FHS, which also got three kills and two digs from Valencia Cousin and four digs apiece from Lili Velazquez and Karly Renz.
Lake won the junior varsity contest 25-17, 25-27, 25-16.
TO ST. JOSEPH
KANSAS — Aubrey Bickford racked up 23 assists, 10 points, four digs and four aces in Lakota’s 25-23, 25-18, 25-23 loss to Fremont St. Joseph Thursday night in Sandusky River League action.
Destiney Long-Meyer totaled 12 digs, five kills and three points and Katie Park recorded eight digs, five points and four kills for the Raiders (1-2 overall, 1-1 SRL).
Bree Long-Meyer added six points with three aces, five digs and four kills for Lakota, while Khilee Baltz tallied 11 digs and three kills and Paige Alloway had two digs.
ST. WENDELIN, H-L
TIFFIN — Hopewell-Loudon’s Bryce Gorrell medaled with a 37, but Tiffin Calvert came away with victories over the Chieftains and St. Wendelin Thursday at Seneca Hills Golf Course.
Calvert won the match with 170 strokes to 172 for St. Wendelin and 173 for Hopewell-Loudon.
Bryan Kennedy led the Senecas with a 38, while Henry Burns (42), Matt Huffman (44) and Jason Whiteman (46) completed the scoring.
Brydon Harrison shot a 54 and Kristen Bowers had a 61.
Peter Campbell paced the Mohawks (8-3) with a 38, followed by Joey DeHaven with a 44 and Makenzie McAfee and Cameron Hunter at 45 apiece. Nick Weaver shot a 49.
Following Gorrell in scoring for the Chieftains were Tyler Rohe with a 42, Garret Sendelbach with a 45 and Devin Gosche with a 49. Ryan Steinmetz shot a 51 and Waleed Salem had a 70.
MILLER MEDALS AS
ELMWOOD PLACES 2ND
GENOA — Elmwood’s Alexis Miller earned medalist honors with a 39 as the Royals finished second in the first Northern Buckeye Conference girls golf shootout at Chippewa Golf Course on Thursday.
Eastwood won by a 207-213 edge over the Royals. Otsego (216), Genoa (221) and Rossford (226) followed.
Genoa’s Rikki Shoemaker was second in the medalist standings, five shots back at 44.
UPPER SANDUSKY — Autumn Affholder led Fostoria High School with four games won Thursday as the Lady Red fell 5-0 to Upper Sandusky.
Nadia English defeated Affholder 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Sara Giar defeated Sabra Tate 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and the Lady Red forfeited the No. 3 singles match.
Kayla Gault and Hope Voorhees knocked off Cristy Gao and Jessica Kauffman 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, while Paige Burger and Shelby Passet rolled to a 6-0, 6-0 win over Ellen Guan and Cierra Valenti at No. 2 doubles.
