Medalist Gorrell leads H-L to third in Old Fort’s Stockader Invitational

KANSAS — Medalist Bryce Gorrell, a 2013 state-tournament qualifier, shot a 3-under par 70 Tuesday to lead Hopewell-Loudon to third place among 10 teams in Old Fort’s Stockader Shootout at Nature Trails Golf Course.
Woodmore won the team championship by a 336-344 margin over Mohawk. Hopewell-Loudon finished with 348, followed by Lakota (351), Danbury (374), St. Wendelin (379), Old Fort (388), New Riegel (390), Arcadia (414) and Elmwood (417).
Ryan Steinmetz followed Gorrell for the Chieftains with an 89, while Deavan Gosche shot a 94 and Garret Sendelbach carded a 95. Tyler Rohe had a 100.
Makayla Dull, the defending Division II girls state champion, and Hunter Chalfin each shot an 80 for Lakota. Collin Gosche posted an 88 and Dylan Schiebel carded a 103. Nathan Walter had a 119.
Peter Campbell was low for St. Wendelin with an 83, while Joey DeHaven shot an 88, Cameron Hunter recorded a 101 and Makenzie McAfee shot a 107. Nick Weaver had a 121.
Trey Hossler’s 89 led Old Fort, which also got a 91 from Adam Alexander, a 100 from Jon Lotycz and a 108 from Hunter Davidson. Austin Castro had a 109.
Travis Williams led New Riegel with a 94, while Lucas Williams shot a 97, Allen Acree posted a 98 and Jared Coleman carded a 101. Jordan Orians had a 108.
Alic Davis guided Arcadia with an 89, while Jake Hill registered a 100, Zach Salazar had a 108 and Riley Dean shot a 117.
Nate Ramsey’s 93 paced Elmwood, which also received a 97 from Kaeleb Boerner, a 113 from Collin Bechstein and a 114 from Evan Houtz. Earl Shoemaker had a 126.
MAUMEE — Zoie Nieto carded a 42 to lead Van Buren to first place in the season’s first Northwest Ohio Girls Golf League match of the season Tuesday at Brandywine Country Club.
Erin Neall added a 43 as the Black Knights edged Toledo Notre Dame 185-186 for first place in the eight-team event.
Toledo Whitmer was third at 189, followed by Findlay at 192, Lima Central Catholic at 194, Sylvania Southview at 203, Toledo Central Catholic at 224 and Toledo St. Ursula at 226.
Carlee Schmelzer (47) and Maria Trusty (53) completed the scoring for the Black Knights.
