Dull medals, leads Lakota to 2nd place

NORTH BALTIMORE — Makayla Dull, last year’s girls state champion in Division II, claimed medalist recognition with a 75 Monday to lead Lakota to second place in the eight-team Royal Invitational hosted by Elmwood at Birch Run Golf Club.
McComb won with 342 strokes to Lakota’s 350. Hopewell-Loudon was third at 353, followed by Fostoria High School (365), St. Wendelin (367), Arcadia (371), Elmwood (403) and Northwood (566).
Hunter Chalfin followed Dull with an 82 for the Raiders, while Collin Gosche shot an 88 and Dillon Schiebel carded a 105. Nathan Walter finished at 111.
Bryce Gorrell, a 2013 state-tournament qualifier, posted a 76 to lead Hopewell-Loudon, which also got an 87 from Garret Sendelbach, a 93 from Tyler Rohe and a 97 from Deavan Gosche. Ryan Steinmetz had a 105 and Waleed Salem came in at 108.
Trey Yates led Fostoria with a 79, followed by Robby Crotty with a 91, Tyler Agapiou with a 97 and Kyle Hopkins with a 98. Dalton Cook had a 117.
Joey DeHaven was low for St. Wendelin with an 82. Makenzie McAfee was next at 84, followed by Peter Campbell with an 85 and Nick Weaver with a 116.
Jake Hill paced Arcadia with an 85, followed by Alic Davis with a 90 and Kyle Inbody and Zach Salazar with 98 apiece. Riley Dean had a 107 and Drake Spridgeon shot a 129.
Nate Ramsey led Elmwood with a 95, while Kaeleb Borner (98), Nate Sterling (103) and Evan Houtz (107) completed the scoring. Collin Bechstein shot a 116 and Earl Shoemaker had a 125.
