H-L baseball upends No. 1 Seneca East

BASCOM — Garret Sendelbach threw a one-hitter with eight strikeouts and added two singles and two RBIs at the plate Tuesday as Hopewell-Loudon bounced Division IV top-ranked Seneca East 5-2 in a Midland Athletic League baseball contest.
Tyler Imes hit four singles for the Chieftains (17-9 overall, 8-2 MAL), while Bryan Scherger had a double and a single and drove in two runs and Ryan Depinet had two singles.
Carson Pipher singled and drove in a run for Seneca East’s (23-2, 10-1 MAL) lone hit. Ben Cramer gave up three earned runs on 10 hits with three strikeouts in five innings while taking the loss.

BLOOMDALE — Dylan Hall tallied a double and three singles for Elmwood in a 13-6 win over Fostoria High School Tuesday in Northern Buckeye Conference action.
Brett Jones added three singles for the Royals (12-12 overall, 5-6 NBC), while Nolan Kerr, Jacob Firsdon, Jake Wise and Tayte Lentz each hit a pair of singles.
Brandon Pennington got the win on the mound for the Royals, while Kaleb Bemis took the loss for the Redmen.
Chris Hampton and Trey Yates had two singles apiece for FHS (14-11, 3-7 NBC), while Hunter Abell doubled and Bemis had a single.

MOUNT CORY — Junior Isaac Sexton threw a five-inning no-hitter with six strikeouts and hit a home run and three doubles and drove in four runs Tuesday as Van Buren drubbed Cory-Rawson 10-0 in a Blanchard Valley Conference game.
Ross Adolph hit two triples and a single, Chance Sonnenberg tripled and drove in a run, Brandon Bell doubled, singled and had an RBI, Jameson Jacobs recorded a pair of singles and drove in a run and Payten Whitticar finished with a double and an RBI for the Black Knights (16-9 overall, 6-3 BVC).
Losing pitcher Logan Cawley gave up nine earned runs on 12 hits in three innings as the Hornets fell to 3-18 and 2-7.

BLOOMDALE — Miranda Benschoter fired a five-inning one-hitter and backed her own cause by driving in six runs as Elmwood clobbered Fostoria High School 11-0 Tuesday in five innings of Northern Buckeye Conference play.
Benschoter struck out eight from the circle and hit a double and a single at the plate as the Royals upped their record to 19-4 overall and 11-1 in conference play.
Chelsie Schmitz singled and knocked in two runs for Elmwood, while Kristi Reiser doubled and knocked in a run, Madison Arnold had a single and an RBI and Jasmine Marsh doubled.
Losing pitcher Alex Hersch allowed three earned runs on three hits while striking out four and walking one in 3-plus innings.
Alexus Smith’s double was the lone hit for the Lady Red (5-18, 0-10).

Jordan Magers and Alyssa Pence limited St. Wendelin to five hits and Magers added two RBIs Tuesday as Old Fort claimed a 4-1 victory in Midland Athletic League play at Foundation Park.
Magers tripled and singled and Haili Kimmet had a single and an RBI as the Stockaders improved to 12-11 overall and 4-5 in the MAL.
Winning pitcher Magers allowed an earned run on four hits and three walks before Pence finished with three one-hit innings.
Losing pitcher Meghan Reiter allowed two earned runs on four hits in a complete game while striking out 12 and walking two. The Mohawks committed three errors.
Sammie Digby doubled, singled twice and knocked in a run for St. Wendelin (10-13, 4-6).

RAWSON — Nichole Miller and Kila Fultz combined on a three-hitter with 13 strikeouts as Van Buren wrapped up Blanchard Valley Conference play Tuesday with an 11-0 win over Cory-Rawson.
Miller allowed one hit and struck out eight in four innings. Fultz gave up two hits and fanned five.
Erin Neall singled twice and drove in three runs, while Miller singled and knocked in three runs for the Black Knights (14-12 overall, 7-2 BVC), who also got a two-run double from Brylie Rampe.
Amie Ricksecker had two singles and Mikaela Ricksecker tripled for the Hornets (5-15, 2-7 BVC).
