‘Skins win share of BVC crown

DOLA — Megan Hill finished with a double, a single and three RBIs and Arcadia wrapped up a share of the Blanchard Valley Conference championship with an 8-3 win over Hardin Northern Monday.
Arlington (17-5 overall, 8-1 BVC) gained a share of the title with an 8-3 victory over Leipsic Monday.
Ashley Baird allowed one earned run on three hits while striking out eight and walking four to earn the victory as the Redskins moved to 14-8 overall and 8-1 in the BVC.
Courtney Cramer had a single and two RBIs, while Skylar Conley singled and drove in a run and Haley Kieffer notched a pair of singles for Arcadia.
Hannah Fisher hit an RBI double for the Polar Bears (12-6, 7-2).

OLD FORT — Taylor Kirian belted three of New Riegel’s five home runs, tripled and finished with seven RBIs as the state-ranked Blue Jackets clubbed Old Fort 15-3 in five innings Monday in Midland Athletic League play.
Kirian (21-4) also picked up the win in four innings in the circle, allowing one earned run on four hits with one strikeout.
Morgan Noftz added a solo home run and a single and Lauren Zoeller homered and had two RBIs as the Blue Jackets (22-4, 8-1 MAL), who are ranked third in the state, totaled 18 hits.
Elyssa Theis collected three singles and two RBIs, while both Leah Bouillon and Taylor Arbogast added a pair of singles and Hailey Theis singled and drove in a run for New Riegel.
Mackenzie Ward led Old Fort (11-11, 3-5) with a single and an RBI.

PEMBERVILLE — Elmwood went ahead when Dylan Hall scored on a throwing error in the top of the seventh inning and the Royals came away with a 3-2 Northern Buckeye victory over Eastwood.
The Eagles (6-17 overall, 5-7 NBC) scored a pair of runs in the first inning and they stood up until Elmwood (11-12, 4-6) tied the contest with a two-run sixth. Brett Jones scored the tying run on Jarrett Childress’ squeeze bunt.
The Royals scored in the seventh without getting a hit, as two walks and a sacrifice combined with the error to put Elmwood ahead.
Philip Buckingham hit a double and gained the pitching win in three innings of relief. Jones and Jake Wise each singled for the Royals.

OLD FORT — New Riegel trailed 3-2 after three innings but responded with four runs in the fourth inning and eight runs in the fifth inning to defeat Old Fort 14-3 in five innings Monday in Midland Athletic League action.
Michael Kirian doubled twice, Alex Theis singled twice and both finished with three RBIs for the Blue Jackets (13-10 overall, 5-4 MAL).
Austin Mathias (3-2) singled twice and also tossed a three-hitter, allowing three unearned runs and striking out six batters.
Brandon Tittle singled and drove in a run, and Brad Heilman and Jacob Hammond each doubled for the Stockaders (5-18, 1-8).

DOLA — Dylan Conine (1-3) picked his first career win in a relief effort and also drove in a run Monday as Arcadia gained a 5-2 Blanchard Valley Conference victory over winless Hardin Northern.
Chad Baker collected three singles and Myles Monday singled and drove in a run as the Redskins improved to 6-15 overall and 2-7 in BVC play.
Losing pitcher Jake Gossard doubled, while Bradlee Watts and Collin Hoffman each singled and drove in a run for the Polar Bears (0-19, 0-9).
