SW softball tops St. Joe

Allie Rutter collected a double, a single and three RBIs as St. Wendelin totaled 14 hits in a 5-2 Midland Athletic League win over Fremont St. Joseph Wednesday at Foundation Park.
Meghan Reiter registered seven strikeouts while allowing two unearned runs on only four hits and no walks to earn the win.
Reiter also doubled and drove in a run and Krystal Krout hit three singles and drove in a run for the Mohawks (7-9 overall, 2-4 MAL). Cailin Reineck added a double and a single while Edy Mowrey and Cortney Babb each singled twice.
Be Reardon took the loss after striking out four and walking one in a complete game.
Natalie Zyski singled and drove in the Crimson Streaks’ lone run.

PEMBERVILLE — Samantha Shirling threw a two-hitter with nine strikeouts for Eastwood in a 5-0 win over Fostoria High School Wednesday in Northern Buckeye Conference action.
Michaela Bunge hit a double and drove in a pair of runs for the Eagles, while Krista Jennings singled and also drove in two runs. Marissa Tudor had three singles.
Losing pitcher Erica Moore doubled for the Lady Red (4-13 overall, 0-7 MAL) and Jada Hampton hit a single.

BLOOMDALE — Elmwood broke a 3-3 tie with a run in the fourth inning and added another tally in the six inning to come away with a 5-4 win over Genoa Wednesday in Northern Buckeye Conference play.
Rebecca Harvey and Kristi Reiser each belted a home run for the Royals (14-3 overall, 6-1 NBC), with Harvey finishing with three runs batted in.
Brandie Vargas singled and drove in a run and Olivia Myers doubled for Elmwood.
Winning pitcher Miranda Benschoter fired a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Katie Jensen singled and knocked in two runs for the Comets.

The Rockets (4-10 overall, 3-6 BVC) scored six runs in both the second and fourth innings.
Haley Bonham and Kate Clymer each had a single and an RBI and Grace Wagner hit two singles for the Wildcats (5-13, 3-6).

PEMBERVILLE — Fostoria High School scored one run in each of the final two innings but fell short in a 5-4 Northern Buckeye Conference loss to Eastwood Wednesday.
The Eagles led 3-0 after three innings and scored twice in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
David Krukemeyer singled twice for Eastwood.
Kaleb Bemis (1-4) took the loss as the Redmen dropped to 12-8 overall and 3-5 in the NBC.
Robby Crotty hit three singles and Trey Yates added two singles as the Redmen outhit the Eagles 7-6.

Marcus Kerr tallied a triple, a single and an RBI for Fremont St. Joseph in an 11-9 victory over St. Wendelin Wednesday in Midland Athletic League play at Lucadello Field.
Lucas Michael added a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Crimson Streaks, while Jordan Hartley had a double and an RBI and Jake Yeckley singled and drove in a run.
Bennett Wickert gained the win on the mound, while Donovan Scudder took the loss as the Mohawks fell to 2-18 overall and 0-7 in the MAL.
Scudder led St. Wendelin at the plate with a double, two singles and three RBIs, while Trent Whetsel had a pair of singles and three RBIs and Cyle Smith hit a double and drove in a run.
Devin Frankart had a double and a single, while Brady Rutter hit two singles for the Mohawks.

Jared Gelinas and Ryan Depinet each hit three singles and drove in a pair of runs, while Weston Hill singled twice and knocked in three for the Chieftains (13-8 overall, 6-2 MAL).
Winning pitcher Tyler Imes (4-2) allowed two earned runs on five hits in a complete game. He also doubled, singled and drove home a run.
Garret Sendelbach doubled, singled twice and drove in a run, while Jackson Sebetto singled and notched two RBIs for Hopewell-Loudon.
Brock Boyer had a single and an RBI for the Tigers.

KANSAS — Ethan Caudill fanned 13 batters while throwing a three-hitter and helped his own cause by driving in a run to lead state-ranked Seneca East to a 2-1 Midland Athletic League victory over Lakota Wednesday.
The Tigers, who are ranked first in the state in Division IV, improved to 18-1 overall and 7-0 in MAL play.
Casey Monroe took the loss while tossing a two-hitter in which he allowed one earned run. He walked four and fanned three.
Monroe, Dakota Gilbert and Josh Mason each singled as the Raiders fell to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in the MAL.

BLOOMDALE — Genoa jumped out to a 9-0 lead in the first three innings and went on beat error-plagued Elmwood 13-3 Wednesday in a Northern Buckeye Conference contest.
Nick Wolfe tripled, doubled and drove in three runs for the Comets, which benefited from seven Royals errors. Logan Scott hit three singles and knocked in two runs and Casey Gose added a pair of singles.
Jake Wise recorded two singles and an RBI for Elmwood (7-11 overall, 2-5 NBC). Losing pitcher Nolan Kerr fell to 2-4.

VAN BUREN — A five-run sixth inning helped pave the way for McComb to knock off Van Buren 12-9 Wednesday in a Blanchard Valley Conference slugfest.
Seven McComb batters had multi-hit games. Clay Grubb had three singles and an RBI and Mitch Schroeder also had three singles for the Panthers (16-3 overall, 8-1 BVC).
Jameson Jacobs had a double and two RBIs and Chance Sonnenberg added three singles and two RBIs for the Black Knights (12-7, 5-3).
