SW softball tops St. Joe

Allie Rutter collected a double, a single and three RBIs as St. Wendelin totaled 14 hits in a 5-2 Midland Athletic League win over Fremont St. Joseph Wednesday at Foundation Park.
Meghan Reiter registered seven strikeouts while allowing two unearned runs on only four hits and no walks to earn the win.
Reiter also doubled and drove in a run and Krystal Krout hit three singles and drove in a run for the Mohawks (7-9 overall, 2-4 MAL). Cailin Reineck added a double and a single while Edy Mowrey and Cortney Babb each singled twice.
Be Reardon took the loss after striking out four and walking one in a complete game.
Natalie Zyski singled and drove in the Crimson Streaks’ lone run.

Rebecca Harvey and Kristi Reiser each belted a home run for the Royals (14-3 overall, 6-1 NBC), with Harvey finishing with three runs batted in.
Brandie Vargas singled and drove in a run and Olivia Myers doubled for Elmwood.
Winning pitcher Miranda Benschoter fired a three-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk.
Katie Jensen singled and knocked in two runs for the Comets.

The Eagles led 3-0 after three innings and scored twice in the fourth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
David Krukemeyer singled twice for Eastwood.
Kaleb Bemis (1-4) took the loss as the Redmen dropped to 12-8 overall and 3-5 in the NBC.
Robby Crotty hit three singles and Trey Yates added two singles as the Redmen outhit the Eagles 7-6.

Lucas Michael added a pair of singles and drove in a run for the Crimson Streaks, while Jordan Hartley had a double and an RBI and Jake Yeckley singled and drove in a run.
Bennett Wickert gained the win on the mound, while Donovan Scudder took the loss as the Mohawks fell to 2-18 overall and 0-7 in the MAL.
Scudder led St. Wendelin at the plate with a double, two singles and three RBIs, while Trent Whetsel had a pair of singles and three RBIs and Cyle Smith hit a double and drove in a run.
Devin Frankart had a double and a single, while Brady Rutter hit two singles for the Mohawks.

The Tigers, who are ranked first in the state in Division IV, improved to 18-1 overall and 7-0 in MAL play.
Casey Monroe took the loss while tossing a two-hitter in which he allowed one earned run. He walked four and fanned three.
Monroe, Dakota Gilbert and Josh Mason each singled as the Raiders fell to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in the MAL.

Nick Wolfe tripled, doubled and drove in three runs for the Comets, which benefited from seven Royals errors. Logan Scott hit three singles and knocked in two runs and Casey Gose added a pair of singles.
Jake Wise recorded two singles and an RBI for Elmwood (7-11 overall, 2-5 NBC). Losing pitcher Nolan Kerr fell to 2-4.

Jameson Jacobs had a double and two RBIs and Chance Sonnenberg added three singles and two RBIs for the Black Knights (12-7, 5-3).
