St. Wendelin led 4-1 after one inning, but state-ranked New Riegel scored the game’s next 11 runs and grabbed a 15-6 Midland Athletic League softball win Tuesday at Foundation Park.
Taylor Arbogast had a home run, two singles and four RBIs, while Taylor Kirian hit four singles and drove in three runs, Lauren Zoeller had a double, two singles and three RBIs and Morgan Noftz homered and tripled for the Blue Jackets (18-4, 5-1 MAL), who are ranked third in the state in Division IV.
Brittany Gillig and Lauren Ladd contributed a single and an RBI apiece as New Riegel collected 19 hits.
Kirian (17-4) allowed two earned runs on 11 hits and four walks with four strikeouts to earn the win.

Jake Dryfuse racked up four RBIs in a five-hit performance with two doubles and three singles, while Michael Kirian churned out six RBIs and fell a home run short of hitting for the cycle.
Alex Theis doubled, singled and drove in two runs, Aaron Acree singled three times and drove in a run and Austin Mathias singled twice and plated one run.

Rossford jumped on Fostoria High School for 10 runs in the first three innings and fended off a late comeback attempt to earn a 13-9 Northern Buckeye Conference win Tuesday at Grant Jackson Field.
The Redmen (12-7 overall, 3-4 NBC) scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh but couldn’t overcome a 13-5 deficit in the final frame.
Collin Bohland, Noah Asmus, Ryan Niese and Ryan Davis each singled twice as the Bulldogs totaled 12 hits and benefited from six errors by the Redmen.
Asmus also picked up the win on the mound.
Robby Crotty tripled and singled, Chris Hampton singled twice and doubled and Kaleb Bemis singled twice as FHS racked up 13 hits.

The Redmen’s Sabian Arana beat Matt Gullett 7-6, 6-2 at No. 1 singles, while Jordan Marshall beat Ryan Kusic 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles. FHS’ Dylan Stone beat Jeff Zolciak 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 2 singles.
Fostoria’s Bishop Mahan and Tyree Ticey stopped Sean Hafner and Katherine Zolciak at No. 1 doubles, and Noah Kitchen and Jeremiah Brough defeated Heath Norton and Toby Sheppard 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

ELMWOOD GIRLS WIN
BLOOMDALE — Madison Sears raced to three individual victories Tuesday to lead Elmwood’s girls to first place in a meet that also included Arcadia, Lima Perry and New Riegel.
The Royals scored 125 points to 49 for Arcadia, 45 for Perry and 15 for New Riegel.
Perry won the boys meet with 101 points to 80 for Elmwood, 47 for Arcadia and 12 for New Riegel.
Sears won the 100 (13.55), 200 (27.6) and 300 hurdles (49.1). Katie Dewey won the shot put (31-8) and discus (115-4), while Courtney Emmitt took the pole vault (8-8) and Emma Krassow claimed the 3,200 (13:32).
The Royals’ Brionna Camden, Katie Henderson, Rachael Grilliot and Amanda Jones won the 400 relay (55.47), while Camden, Makayla Mohre, Lindsay Hocker and Katie Henderson claimed the 800 relay (2:00). Hocker, Mohre, Taylor Barnhisel and Alyssa Clack won the 1,600 relay (4:46) and Krassow, Millie Elgin, Jackie Baer and Emily Tracy won the 3,200 relay (12:17).
Rebecca Kirian led Arcadia by winning the long jump (15-½) and 110 hurdles (17.8). Emily Musson won the 1,600 (6:04) and Nicole Santa Cruz claimed the 400 (1:06.1).
New Riegel’s Abby Mathias won the 800 in 2:54.
Austin Jasso won the 400 (53.7) and teamed with Treg Snowden, Jordan Andrich and Zach Hocker to win the 400 relay (47.16) for Elmwood. Other winners for the Royals were Sebastian Baxter in the shot put (43.2), Aaron Arnold in the long jump (20-3¾) and Noah Smith in the pole vault (8-0).
