Arcadia, Lakota split softball doubleheader

KANSAS — Alisha Baird smacked her third home run of the day as Arcadia notched a six-inning, 17-6 victory over Lakota and gained a split of Saturday’s nonconference doubleheader.
Lakota won the first game 9-6 despite Baird clubbing two homers.
The Redskins trailed 6-5 through four innings of the nightcap before scoring nine runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to raise their record to 10-6.
Baird also had a single and finished with four RBIs on the day. Ashley Baird recorded four singles, a triple and three RBIs, Lizzie Coward notched four singles and three RBIs for Arcadia, while Courtney Cramer homered, doubled and drove in three runs, Skylar Conley singled twice and knocked in three runs and Molly Glick hit four singles.
Nikkia Cooper collected four singles, a double and four BIs for the Raiders (12-5), while Aubrey Bickford had three singles and an RBI, Bree Long-Meyer triple, singled and drove in a run, Morgan Gangwer singled twice and knocked in a run and Aspen Ray had three singles.

COLUMBUS GROVE — Van Buren had four players with at least four hits and three RBIs on the day as it claimed a pair of five-inning, 14-1 wins over Columbus Grove Saturday in nonleague play.
Olivia Sattler cracked three doubles and a single and drove in five runs for the Black Knights (9-10), while Erin Neall collected a double, three singles and four RBIs, Nichole Miller had four singles and four RBIs and Paige Sudlow had three singles, a double and three RBIs.
The Bulldogs managed only five hits on the day while falling to 9-6.

KANSAS — Hopewell-Loudon scored nine runs in the top of the sixth inning Saturday to pull away from Lakota for a 16-3 Midland Athletic League baseball win.
Garret Sendelbach nearly hit for the cycle, hitting two singles, a double, a triple and driving in five runs for Hopewell-Loudon (11-8, 4-2 MAL), which had 16 hits. Tyler Imes added three singles and three RBIs and picked up his third win of the season on the mound.
Dakota Gilbert and Casey Monroe each had two hits and an RBI for the Raiders (7-8, 3-2), who had won their last seven games.

Brad Heilman singled home Noah Henry and Jordan Bryon in the bottom of the seventh in the first game.
Maison Steyer singled in Bryon in the seventh for a 3-2 in in the nightcap.
Tyler Wingate doubled and singled and Jason Summers had a pair of singles in the first game for Vanlue. Nick Hagerty tripled and Sam Wagner added two singles for the Wildcats in the second game.

FINDLAY — Van Buren won the 1,600 relay Saturday and finished fifth among 16 girls teams in the Liberty-Benton Invitational.
Liberty-Benton topped Columbus Grove 126-106 for the girls team championship. Van Buren recorded 61½ points.
Columbus Grove and Liberty-Benton tied for the boys title with 101 points, with Otsego just behind with 100½. Van Buren had the top finish among area teams, placing 12th with 18 points.
Lauren Wise, Cassie Schmelzer, Rachell Resnik and Bri Lasley teamed up for Van Buren’s victory in the girls 1,600 relay.
New Riegel’s Timmy Ink had the top area boys finish with a second in the long jump.

FOR 8TH AT MARGARETTA
CASTALIA — Fostoria High School’s boys collected three third-place finishes on their way to tying for eighth place in the team standings of Friday night’s Margaretta Invitational.
Milan Edison won the boys team title 134½-104 over Seneca East. Fostoria tied Genoa with 37 points.
Edison topped Smithville 148-123 for the girls championship. Fostoria was last among 12 teams with three points.
FHS’ thirds in the boys competition came from Rayshon Martin in the 200, C.J. Matheny in the 800 and Aquiles Estrada in the 1,600,
Olivia Valenti scored the Lady Red’s only points by finishing third in the long jump.
