Gov. John Kasich put his “John Hancock” this week on a key piece of legislation, bringing the merger of Bettsville and Old Fort school districts one step closer to reality.
Kasich signed into action House Bill 487, which included several educational amendments to items such as the “Third Grade Reading Guarantee,” faculty and staff evaluations, testing, graduation requirements and district report cards, according to a published report.
With the recent transfer of Bettsville Schools’ territory to Old Fort Local Schools, the Old Fort Local Schools will re-open Inter-district Open Enrollment until June 30 for grades KG-9. Application are available on the school website at www.oldfortschools.org or call the high school office at 419-992-4291.
