Celena Runion (left) and Pamela Smith, of the Fostoria Area Chamber of Commerce, stand among some promotional items for Fostoria’s first Smokin’ Pig Rib-Off event Friday. The chamber fundraiser will be conducted from 5-10 p.m. in the Park & Shop lot at the corner of Center and Main streets. Five vendors will be on hand vying for the Peoples’ Choice and Judges’ Choice awards, selling chicken, pork and beef along with side dishes and drinks. Admission is $5 for adults, $4 for seniors and free for children 10 years old and younger. Three bones of ribs are $6, with larger portions available. Entertainment will include a beer tent and music provided by a DJ. Additionally, there will be a 50/50 raffle and door prizes. Smith, executive director of the chamber, said the event’s proceeds will be used for staging more events in the city.
