Fostoria police believe they have recovered the weapon used in the early Saturday morning shooting of a Fostoria man.
Fostoria Police Capt. Patrick Brooks said Det. Gabe Wedge executed a search warrant Tuesday and recovered the firearm believed to be involved in the shooting of 19-year-old Thomas Breitigam Jr.
Officers responded to the 1200 block of Beier Drive shortly before 4:30 a.m. Saturday and found Breitigam Jr. suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower leg.
He was transported by ambulance to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital where he was later taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center.
While initially receiving “very limited cooperation” from Breitigam and many witnesses, Brooks said Tuesday that some have begun to come forward with information as to what happened.
The investigation is ongoing but Brooks said he hopes to have it wrapped up by the end of the week.
