Police are continuing to investigate the shooting of a 19-year-old Fostoria man this weekend, despite limited cooperation by the victim and witnesses.
According to Capt. Patrick Brooks, officers responded to the 1200 block of Beier Drive shortly before 4:30 a.m. Saturday and found Thomas Breitigam Jr., 19, had suffered a serious gunshot wound to the lower leg.
He was transported by ambulance to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital where he was later taken by air ambulance to Mercy St. Vincent Medical Center. A spokesperson there said Sunday there was no report available on his condition.
According to the police report, officers recorded registration information of multiple vehicles at the location as well as those leaving and entering the area throughout the morning.
The Bureau of Criminal Investigation was on the scene at 7:30 a.m.
“Upon initial look by officers on scene, it may have possibly been a shotgun blast,” Brooks said. “But we don’t know specifically what kind of weapon was used and we’re receiving little cooperation from the victim.”
Brooks said no suspects have yet been identified, as Breitigam and the many witnesses at the scene are providing detectives with “very limited cooperation” in their interviews; however, he said the investigation is still ongoing.
Brooks said he advises anyone with information on the incident to contact the Fostoria Police Department at 419-435-8573.
