Pancake Day hits the pavement

Fostoria Kiwanis Club will offer a new delivery option as part of its March 4 Pancake Day fundraiser.
While the club has always offered a carry-out option, this year, Fostoria-area businesses may request delivery between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on prepaid orders of two or more.
“We are able to take our pancakes on the road to local businesses thanks to several off-duty Fostoria (firefighters) who graciously agreed to volunteer their time in support of the cause,” said Nancy Dillon, Fostoria Kiwanis Club president. “This is something we have talked about offering for some time now, but did not have the volunteer support to do so before now.”
Fostoria Kiwanis Club’s Fat Tuesday themed Pancake Day will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 4 at St. Wendelin Parish Life Center, 323 N. Wood St.
Pancake Day is the Fostoria Kiwanis Club’s largest fundraiser, and includes all the pancakes you care to eat as well as sausages, coffee and orange juice. Tickets are now available for purchase and are $6 for adults, $5 for Golden Buckeye members, $3 for children five to 11 years old and free for children under four.
All proceeds from the sales will go toward the operation of the Fostoria Kiwanis Club, which has been a part of the greater Fostoria community for more than 80 years. The club participates in a variety of community projects, especially those catering to children.
Some of the group’s activities include: providing new school shoes for needy children, offering car seat safety checks, recognizing students of the month from Fostoria, participating in youth and elderly mentoring programs, hosting an annual New Educators Luncheon and community Prayer breakfast, flags, and Adopt-A-Highway.
