Katie Sakel is the new enrollment manager at St. Wendelin Catholic School.
Sakel, a 2006 St. Wendelin graduate, returned to the school as a science teacher.
Prior to teaching at SWCS, Sakel taught at Bowling Green State University as a graduate teaching assistant for the general biology laboratory.
She attended Ohio Northern University where she participated in a program that allows students to study science while living aboard a ship, called “Semester at Sea.” After receiving her bachelor’s degree in biology, she attended BGSU and earned her master’s degree in biology, concentrating in the field of Ecotoxicology and Behavior.
Sakel will continue her duties as a science teacher, fully transitioning into her new position over the summer. She will remain the science department chair and may continue to teach at least one class in the following years, according to a press release.
She replaces former enrollment manager Cyndi Geroski, who has retired after 20 years of service to St. Wendelin Catholic School.
