The Wood County Sheriff’s Office is investigating several scam incidents where county residents were called by people claiming to be sheriff’s deputies.
The residents were told they had missed jury duty and there was a warrant out for their arrest. They were told if they did not want to be arrested, they were to purchase money cards and give the card information to the callers.
This is a scam. The Wood County Sheriff’s Office said it does not call residents to demand bond money or require odd forms of payment.
Anyone with information can contact the sheriff’s office at 419-354-9008.
