Findlay had a record-low temperature early Tuesday when the thermometer hit minus 10, according to measurements taken at the Findlay Water Pollution Control Center.
Findlay’s record low for Jan. 2 had been minus 5, set in both 1945 and 1974.
No more records are likely to be broken this week, even though below-zero temperatures are predicted Thursday and Friday.
The city’s record low for Jan. 3 is minus 12; the record for Jan. 4 is minus 14; and the record for Jan. 5 is minus 15.
The Water Pollution Control Center has been keeping the city’s temperature records since 1894.
