Medical issue causes I-75 crash involving Mount Blanchard woman

The State Highway Patrol’s Findlay Post is investigating a single-vehicle crash this morning on southbound Interstate 75 in Findlay that was reportedly caused by a medical issue.

The patrol said Melissa Stone, 52, of Mount Blanchard, was traveling southbound on I-75 near U.S. 224 in a 2015 Chrysler 200 at around 6:30 a.m. While driving, Stone had an unknown medical issue and became incapacitated. The Chrysler traveled off the left side of the road, hit a concrete barrier, and came to rest at the end of a guard rail.

Stone was found unresponsive by first responders but was not injured by the crash. She was taken by Hanco EMS to Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Stone was not wearing a seat belt and alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, the patrol said.

The Findlay Fire Department also assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
