Ottawa crash leaves pedestrian with serious injuries

A pedestrian was struck in Ottawa Wednesday at around 12:50 p.m. according to a press release from the Ottawa Police Department.

Raymond Orengo, 18, of Ottawa, was traveling south on Oak Street when he passed another vehicle and hit a pedestrian, Denise Balbaugh, 58, of Ottawa, while she was crossing the street.

Balbaugh was transported to St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima, with serious injuries, according to police.

Assisting at the scene were Putnam County EMS and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation by the Ottawa Police Department. Charges are pending.
