UPDATED: More roads opening up

More Findlay and Hancock County roads are opening up as Blanchard River floodwaters begin receding, the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office and Findlay Police Department reported Friday night.

In Findlay, Main Street is still closed between Center Street and Front Street.

But Sixth Street is open from South Main to Williams streets, and Broad Avenue has reopened.

Road closures and areas of high water include:

NORTHWEST FINDLAY

  • 300 block of Defiance Avenue
  • Defiance Avenue at Bolton Street
  • Frazer Street at Fox Street

SOUTHWEST FINDLAY

  • Marshall Street between Washington and Shinkle streets, near St. Michael Cemetery

NORTHEAST AND EAST FINDLAY

  • East Main Cross Street from South Blanchard Street to Osborn Avenue
  • Hunter’s Creek subdivision, off East Sandusky Street near Blanchard Valley Center
  • Clinton Street, from Center Street to Clinton Court
  • Clinton Court, from Blanchard Street to Central Avenue

SOUTHEAST FINDLAY

  • East Main Cross Street, from South Main Street to South Blanchard Street.
  • Hancock County 236 at Ohio 568
  • East-View and West-View drives, south of Sixth Street

NEIGHBORING COUNTIES

In Hardin County, the sheriff’s office reports that U.S. 68 in Dunkirk is closed due to high water.

Additionally, ODOT reports that U.S. 68 is closed between Ohio 701 and the Hancock-Hardin county line, and that Ohio 53 is closed between Ohio 81 in Patterson and the village of Forest.


In Wyandot County, the sheriff’s office reports the following closures and roads with high water:

Roads Closed:

  • Ohio 103 between County Highway 95 and 96
  • Township Highway 45 between County Highway 95 and 96
  • County Highway 53 between County Highway 108 and Ohio 293

Roads with reported high water:

  • County Highways 42, 44, 47 and 49, all between County Highway 97 and Township Highway 103
  • County Highway 47 between County Highways 96 and 97, and between Ohio 53 and Ohio 199
  • Ohio 294 near the Old Hickory Golf Course
  • County Highway 97 between County Highway 42 and 44, and north of County Highway 4
  • County Highway 97 north of U.S. 23
  • Ohio 67 south of County Highway 36
  • County Highway 67 south of Township Highway 42
  • Ohio 294 between County Highway 95 and 97
  • Ohio 53 south of McCutchenville

ODOT also reports that Ohio 103 and Ohio 568 are both closed between U.S. 23 and Township Highway 95, near Carey, due to flooding.
